September 18 All things well"And so our good Lord answered all the questions and doubts which I could raise, saying most comfortingly: I make all things well, and I can make all things well, and I shall make all things well, and I will make all things well; and you will see for yourself that every kind of thing will be well. ...And in these words God wishes us to be enclosed in rest and peace." - Julian of Norwich September 09 School Time AgainSo, it's been a busy summer. I spent the first month after school got out working at the school: cleaning up my classroom, organizing the files, and helping with the retest. After a week of rest, I went to Alaska for a two week vacation. It was a fun time with my Mom seeing a lot of new things. Then I was home for three weeks before school started back up. I got to visit with friends, recover from jet lag and get officially bored before returning to work.
Since returning to work one month ago, I have been sufficiently busy. It hardly seems possible that I have been back in school for four weeks. The kids have only been around for two, but things started in earnest day one. I am getting the bugs in my schedule worked out and am sufficiently frustrated with paperwork and new students already. Mostly things have been smooth with only a few wrinkles.
The other new adventure for the year is that I am babysitting my friend's two boys one night a week while she goes to graduate school. It is an experience in parenting to be sure. Tonight is my third night with the kids and the best one yet. I am slowly learning what works and what doesn't work. Being firm and consistant has shown it's rewards. Forgetting that they are four and seven and allowing them too much freedom has shown its downfalls as well. I am sure there will be nights when I wish I hadn't agreed to this, but for tonight I am blessed to be with these children. They really are good kids and they are fun too. Well, time to start baths and bedtime. Off to be the "Tuesday Night Mommy". |
