January 19 Surprised Why is it, that after praying and asking God for something specific, I am surprised when He answers the prayer? This morning, because I was driving over an hour away to an all-day seminar AND they were forecasting a snow storm, I prayed that God would take away my worry and anxiety. I also has God (who is in control of the weather) to change the weather and provide safe travel for those of us going. See, the problem this morning was that despite taking every precaution on my part (someone else was driving, someone else was picking me up so I didn't have to drive when we got home after 8:00 tonight, we were taking a four-wheel drive vehicle and would leave early if there was any sign of difficulty, etc.) I was still concerned. I hadn't completely given it over to the Lord. I still wanted to control the situation...like I could possibly control the weather...HA HA. SO, I prayed that God would change the weather and give us safe travel. While we did see snow this afternoon, it did not stick, and the entire way home (after leaving early to avoid ice after dark), all we saw was rain. When we finally hit home and it was still raining (with NO snow in site)...I sat there and marveled that God had actually changed the weather for me. Then the people taking me home to my house told me that not only did we not get snow...the reason we didn't get snow is that the entire weather pattern had shifted to the east. Now, who could do that besides God? Tell me that God doesn't answer prayer. I just think that it is entirely neat that God moved the big huge storm system so that we would only have rain our entire trip. It's just so neat to see God answer visibly. So many times, we can't see God's answer we only know that He has answered because we believe that He has. I love when God decides to be transparent...the trick is to remember these times and still have faith even when we don't see the result.
