WoodswaifChild of God December 10 Grammar Lessons Overheard one of my students at school say (when asked to get a pencil): "There was ones in there, but they wasn't sharpened." After we commented on the correct grammar he used in his next sentence, he told us the following: "I just want you to know, I AM from the country!" December 02 Knock KnockHeard this joke today from my five year old (Tuesday Night Kid):
E: Knock Knock
L: Who's There?
E: Mr. Chicken Head
L: Mr. Chicken Head Who?
E: Bicycle
It was so silly and nonsensical, it was funny. My seven year old and I laughed and laughed. October 12 Noah's ArkIt's beginning to feel like Noah's Ark around here...except at my house the animals are not exactly welcome. As you can recall, we have our own neighborhood peacock. He is sort of the community pet and while I find him annoying at times, it's neat to say I have a peacock living at my house. Well, NOW, we also have a goat! That's right folks, I said: GOAT!! Apparently he showed up two weeks ago at the house behind my apartment. Yesterday, he ventured up to our front porches. My neighbor called animal control and they came out for about two hours and tried to catch him. This afternoon, I saw him outside my front door. It was hysterical watching my cat on one side of the screen and the goat on the other...well, I wasn't sure whether or not to call animal control...until he jumped up on the front hood of my car. My neighbor saw it and was already calling animal control. After he was unable to get an answer, he called our land lord who came over and called the sheriff's department. 30 minutes later, animal control arrived again. They stayed for about two hours, called in another guy to help and finally gave up trying to catch the goat. They have promised to come back tomorrow morning with reinforcements. So, the only question now is: How many grown men does it take to catch 1 little goat? I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out. TO BE CONTINUED... October 07 Mondays and TuesdaysYou know it's going to be a long day when you are almost at school and realize that not only did you leave your cell phone at home on the counter, you also left your lunch at home too.
That was how yesterday morning started. The rest of the day went like a normal Monday. I have now decided I hate Mondays. My students are always worse on Mondays. There are too many mini fires to put out, as well as a few big ones.
And on top of that...yesterday was picture day. And my students had pictures first thing...that's great for getting my class started on time.
On a much better note, today went great. I had my co-teachers cover my classes. I spent the day in "quarentine" in a spare office working on paperwork. I finished 90% of what I needed to get done today. I came home and finished 5% more. That only leaves a few more things left to do for my report that's due next week. It makes me feel much less stressed to know that this is almost done.
Now if only tomorrow could go as well... October 02 Renewed to pray As I sit here, my heart is renewed. Renewed in my desire to pray. The conversation was brief. For the first time in a long while, there was hope. A small glimmer shining through the darkness. Just that one phrase, that one sentence. It sent shivers up my spine and I knew. I knew that God had told me to call. He allowed me to hear, to see. Lord, continue the work you began. Continue to bring her into Your fold. Continue to call. Help her hear Your voice. Help her to see You: In every person she meets, In every word that is spoken, In every thing that she sees, Help her to see You. Draw her back to You. This is my prayer. This is my heart. "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope which we profess, for He who has promised is faithful." - Hebrews 10:23 |
